Did you mean to say: The word Islam means to submit (to Allah)?

It is not true that Islam means to submit to Allah and the word Islam has nothing to do with the word peace

Q49:14 defines the word Islam and it means: To surrender Not submit

Oh the evidence? al-Tabari and al-Qurtubi tell us that the word Aslama (Became Muslim) in the above verse is really ومعنى قولوا اسلمنا اي استسلمنا Or the meaning of the word Aslamna (became Muslims) is WE SURRENDERED!

So the question is why to surrender to Allah? Both al-Tabari and al-Qurtubi provide the answer and it is: خوف القتل والسبي or surrender to Allah in-order to avoid being killed and enslaved!

So much for the religion of peace!
