without having my copy of the Chumash at hand, i can say that in the Hebrew Bible (OT to the Xtians) there are MANY references to god-dictated laws that involve murder, mayhem and other types of violence. the 'positive' commandment that every israelite kill ALL Amelikites they encounter remains in force today, even though no one can identify them any longer. instead, individuals great and small (i.e.khomeini, hitler, you name it) are declared amelikites and in the theory, should be targeted for horrible deaths. just as islam and xtianity have bloody rules to live by on their books, so does judaism; the difference being that 2000 years of political oppression have trained jews to ignore them.

traditional rabbis still have powers to declare individuals enemies in need of removal from this earth; the legalistic ways to do so remain. what happened to yitzhak rabin is a good illustration of how those rules can be summoned and used.

in my mind, mohammad and jesus cannot be compared: yes, both might have been prophets, but mohammad had to do the dirty work of building his religion himself while jesus had paul to do that work for him after he safely ascended into heaven.

i suggest that if more people actually read leviticus, numbers, and parts of exodus and deuteronomy in thier bibles, they would find many of those same types of blood craving laws that the world sees as exclusively muslim.
