regardless of race or religion we need competent leaders

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?

Submitted by don't blame me i voted mccain (United States), Nov 17, 2008 at 20:51

obama contradicted himself in interviews so much it isnt even funny. i dont know how any informed voter could make the decision to vote for him. i do not have a problem with a black man in the white house; or a hispanic, asian,or native american for that matter but we need someone who stands for what America stands for EQUAL rights for ALL people groups; not special treatment for this group and forget about the rest.

As far as religion is concerned i am a Christian more specifically a Baptist preacher and i think that this nation was founded on christain principles and should be run by Christians but constitutionally we are guaranteed freedom of religion so a muslim has every right to be in office, that gives Obama the right to be wrong if he wants to be. but at the same time Christians should have the same rights as every other religious group to worship publically anywhere we are government buildings included.

we have freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion, i think the commandments should be left up.i have strong convictions that abortion is murder, by the way if someone kills a pregnant woman it is considered double homicide but abortion is a "medical procedure" ??? the only difference is that the mom walked away from the chrime scene on the second one for crying out loud. i honestly believe that mccain would have been the better man for office, not because of race, religion,or political party but because he had a better stand on the issues at hand

that is just my outlook on the whole thing

thank you and have a good day
