Apostasy questions off limits...even to conservatives.

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?
in response to reader comment: HOW IMPORTANT IS IT?

Apparently the subject of Muslim reaction to a perception (even if groundless) that Obama is an apostate is so hot that even some conservatives treat you like a leper for bringing it up.

The idea of a perceived apostasy/Obama connection occurred to me a few days ago and I decided to write a piece on it for a post to Redstate.com. I hadn't seen this subject covered so I did a Google search and came up with Dr. Pipes' column. I read it and incorporated some of its points into my own, while expanding on it and wondering how a perception of Presidential apostasy would impact foreign relations. I think it is a reasonable question to consider.

I posted the column on Redstate.com and within an hour my column was replaced by the following:

[This is far more up Moe's alley than mine, but here's all I have to say: go away, you one-day-old-account bigoted troll. Ciao. -JE]

"The fact that there is some by Bill Bryan "The fact that there is some evidence that he was once an adherent to the faith and now proclaims himself to be a Christian makes him an apostate"

There is no evidence Obama was once an adherent to the faith of Islam. You missed that part.

This is a terrible hit job which probably doesn't have a place on this website.

I have now been blocked and banned from Redstate. My column wasn't crude, abusive, did not say that Obama had ever been a Muslim, and in fact said it made no difference if he was. What mattered would be the reaction of Islamic radicals if they believed that he had been.

I have written Redstate asking for an explanation of what rule I have violated but apparently as a "bigoted troll" I am deserving of none.

Some topics are apparently not open for discussion in America.
