Barack Obama's name.

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?

Submitted by Thomas (United Kingdom), Nov 4, 2008 at 00:55

First and foremost Barack Obama is Black, African-American. Just because of his name the Muslims are trying to claim him as one of their own, which he is not. In Africa you go by the name your parents, rightfully or wrongfully give you, this shows the respect he has for his parents. I admire Obama as he chose not to discard his birth name even though he is not a Muslim, growing up he was often refered to as Barry. The Muslim population has to get real and realise that this man is not Muslim but a christian and btw, the Muslims also enslaved Africans just as Christianity did, this is why there is a legacy of Muslim religion in Africa.
