This is still America isn't it?Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim? Submitted by Cyndy (United States), Nov 10, 2008 at 17:46 What has happened to America, the melting pot? Our country is about separating religion from politics so what does it matter what religion Obama is? Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, what does or should it matter. America was started so we could have the freedom of our own religion. President Kennedy experienced the same prejudice during his campaign because they said since he was the only Catholic to have ever run for office that the the Pope would be running America instead of the President. Didn't happen. And Christianianty is about FORGIVENESS. Amerca hasn't been very forgiving about anything in a very, very long time. Obama brings HOPE to this country, whether he's Muslim or not. I don't care what religion he is as long as he runs our country better than its been run these past eight years, with dignity and morality and conscience. This is what America was known for and now we are the laughing stock of the world. Obama brings back some Hope to not only us Americans but the World. Lets give him a chance. We really have nothing left to lose. Look at our country and the present State its in. Can't we try and lend this man a hand to bring back our American's greatness? I haven't seen this country vote and rally together like this in many, many years. Chicago reminded me of the hope and love at Woodstock without the drugs and insanity. We've grown up since then and our hopes were pretty much dashed but I feel hope and the possibility of our country coming back together again and achieve the Greatness we always had in the past. Obama has my support until he proves differently. Peace and Shalom Cyndy Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
