Was Barak Obama a Muslim

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?

Some interesting points have been brought up in this article concerning Mr. Obams's past as whether he actually was a practicing Muslim. Over the internet, some rather disturbing articles have been cropping up that say Barak Obama was not only a practicing Muslim but actually attended an extremist Islamic madrasa when he was a child in Indonesia. Some articles even say that he atteneded one of these schools in Pakistan, a country that has a 'redputation' for these Islamic study institutes.

Taking everything into account, if Obama only has Islamic connections due to his lenage, and never actually was involved in intense Islamic prayer or study, then there's really no problem. But, if he did delve into either practicing Islam and also into Islamic studies, then that's another matter altogether.

Political campaigns can get really dirty with a lot of hatemongering and mudslinging, especially towards the end, assuming Barak becomes either the Democratic Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate. Then, there is also the racial issue that is bound to raise it's ugly head sooner or later.

As we near the first primaries and political caucuses, it's going to be an interesting campaign due to issues like the one above, and not one that people will be bored with; at least in the Democratic Party anyway.
