Why does this matter

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?

Submitted by Noah (United States), Sep 8, 2008 at 21:53

I want one person who posted here about whether or not he is a muslim, had been a muslim, is tied to muslims or anything else to do with this article to tell me why this matters even a tiny ounce in considering obama for the presidency. Our founding fathers separate church and state in the constitution, meaning that his religion CANNOT have any say in his decisions. deciding whether to vote for him based upon his religious beliefs is discrimination, just as if you were to not vote for him because he is black or because he doesnt have a southern accent. these things have the same amount of influence upon how he would act as president. finally, if the man is a practicing christian, why does it matter that he may once have been muslim. ...
