Islam does not require a name change. There are plenty of white Americans who converted and kept their Judeo-Christian" moniker. I didn't have to, but I chose "Amir" which can be found in both with Iranians and in Israelis. I even know a Christian preacher from Ghana who came to Maryland and kept his Muslim father's name, Rev. Jimmy Islam! Maybe they love their dad and family history???
