Comments miss the point entirely

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?

Submitted by Mike Randall (United Kingdom), Jan 8, 2008 at 05:17

Reading the contributions to this post, I am utterly amazed at the number of letters that seem to miss the point entirely. We are talking about Islam here, people. This is not a Religion so much as a complete way of life - AND one that is completely at odds with our Western way of life.

Furthermore it's stated aim is the complete Islamification of the World and in this respect, they are allowed to lie, cheat and indeed kill to achieve it. It bothers me a great deal that a 'religion' that actually documents these things is even tolerated, let alone helped along the way by the liberal minded do gooders that seem to infest this Planet. No doubt there are many good Muslims, but in subscribing to a doctrine that does not allow dissent, that one CANNOT LEAVE without severe penalties and one that quite frankly does not stand up to scrutiny without resorting to smoke ,mirrors and gobbledegook, they must be put in the same category as the so- called fundamentalists.

Islam is a Chameleon that changes to suit the environment in which it finds itself and the notion that over the years, Islam and the West can peacefully co- exist is dangerously naive. The Balkans is only one case in point - there are many others. Barack Obama may come across as the answer to the US prayer, but any connection with Islam makes him decidedly dodgy.
