Does it really matter

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?

Submitted by Lisa (United States), Oct 11, 2008 at 08:32

I can't believe that so many of you are so concerned with Barack's religious background. I myself was made to go to church as a child, at that young age you don't have a choice. It is up to your parents what your religious upbringing is. His stepfather was a Muslim, therefor he had to learn to about the Muslim religion. As an adult he chose to be a practicing Christian. I myself have changed my religious beliefs from what I was exposed to as a child. Does that make me a bad person, NO. Barack's childhood background should not have any bearing on his choice to be a Christian now or his ability to lead our nation. He has done far better things in his life and for this country than any of you wish to give him credit for! You should get the facts before you judge a man on his childhood religious bacground.
