Islam is a Cult

Reader comment on item: Was Barack Obama a Muslim?
in response to reader comment: Re: Islam is a cult

Islam of TODAY is cult based on many official definitions, including this from American Heritage Dictionary, now if the "true" Islam is/was something different and needs to revived or surfaced is another story, a good one actually.

cult (k┬żlt) n. 1.a. A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader

However, echoing your comments on the difference between a true and "underground" Islam and the popular Islam, I have to add while agreeing that, the dominant Islam is extremely powerful today even though it is not in majority. The dominant Islam serves a few in powers not the public. So when and if do you think the true Islam )and assumable non-militant one) is going to surface and by whom?

The prevailing forms of Christianity have gone through stages and have survived dark ages and political Christianity, not that there is no political Christianity today, but that is not a prevailing one. Renaissance has saved it from hands of tyrant clergy and western democracy has largely separated church and state. Is there any Christian movement today who is trying to gain political power? You bet. But that is NOT dominant and standard form of Christianity. The fact is that founding fathers has gone much further than what is common concept is today; their vision is still futuristic.

In another hand Islam has not gone through anyone of those stages; there has not been any "renaissance" and the only Muslim nation whose secularism was it's true base, Turkey, has fallen to hands of Islamic government today.

The fact is that not most of the Muslims today follow the deceptive and fictional form of Islam which is solely designed to service those in power. This form of Islam is so dominant today that the "true" Muslims –yet to be defined- are surviving underground and so powerful that suicide-bombers are readily available for them; the kill themselves only to be sure that their "charismatic leaders " – as defined above- to drive a better car.

As one of the Hezbollah leaders once stated; a suicide bomber is much cheaper than rockets and they have plenty of them.

That is the definition of Cult that I was referring to, the cult which is a danger to democracy, secularism and human rights.
