Political Art a Tactic by those who want this war to work

in response to reader comment: DEATH OF TWO MORE SOLDIERS

When I first heard of the Marines, Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore., that had been kidnapped, I was amazed at the verbage used to describe this act.

This is a WAR not a criminal happening. The Marines were captured by insurgents. They became prisoners of war. Yes they were executed in a barbaric way but they were none the less executed by insurgents. The Iraqi official that was gunned down by insurgents was a crime to be dealt with by Iraqi authorities. The difference in these acts is the that the Marines were soldiers in the service of their country involved in a war. As long as we and the media continue to address any military action in "softer" terms the politicos will keep American soldiers in Iraq because its not a war just a peace keeping effort to help the Iraqi government to take control.

Make no mistake about it. It is a war where men in uniform are fighting insurgents not in uniform. It's time to call it what it is, a War Against Insurgents. Those of us who served in combat understand the difference and are frustrated by our government's refusal to let us fight this war. Frustrations lead to unlawful acts. "There is no good war and good men are called upon to do bad things. That is the tenor of war."
