"Communism" used to be another democracy.

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Eh, democracy may be an ideal rather than systematic construction for adhering to people working with one another. Democracy's ideals really haven't been accomplished in either Europe or America. Money and control of it deciding labour amd production rules. We only seem to have more strength at consumption decisions now in this new millenium.

It's in Islam that the idealisitc way for democracy has been confronted, in the market place and in the community concerns. Pan-arabism has molded desires for respecting and cooperating, not always comprehensible and developing to equality, but felt for the freedom of recognition to effect each other's accomplishments.

What has happened in the last few years is cynicism that after-all large economic interests have the capacity to violate human interests. It's these human interests that mattered to communism as the Ideal equality state would go.

That democracy deserves reworking through the consumption and economic business class of the newer times. Consumerism of the islamic form may be the other demcocracy to arrive.
