Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam
in response to reader comment: no, YOU are uninformed

Z,

One of the first things you say to me is that because I oppose Islam that is reason to take up arms in name of Allah? You said, " It' is people like you who give Islam all the more reason to fight..." This proves my point about the violent nature of Islam. I would never think of fighting you because we disagree. But your reaction is not hard to understand because the Koran is filled with exhortations to fight the unbelievers.

Let those who would exchange the life of this world for the hereafter, fight for the cause of God; whoever fights for the cause of God, whether he dies or triumphs, on him we shall bestow a rich recompense. (Al - Nisa 4)

As for your statements about Islam making life better for women, I'd have to say that you are either ignorant of your own book or you are not being honest. Here is a quote from the Koran:

Men have authority over women because God has made one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them, forsake them in beds apart, and beat them... ( Al- Nisa 4)Does your religion include beating your women if you feel they need it? If you are to obey the Koran, how can you say that it doesn't?

You make the mistake of equating the West with Christianity. America is not a Christian country! America is a country with freedom, where people can choose to follow Christ if they want to - or Islam for that matter. With freedom does come the possibility for abuse of that freedom. But the alternative is slavery to a hard works oriented hate filled system such as Islamic law.

One thing is very clear about Islam - there is very little room for the concept of redemption. You call cutting off a person's hands and feet good but say that prison is bad & wrong. At least in our system there is room for redemption & forgiveness. We give people a chance to change their ways - not maim them for life for making poor choices.

Islam passes judgment right from the first page of the Koran where it says:

As for the unbelievers, it is the same whether or not you forewarn them; they will not have faith. God has set a seal upon their hearts and ears; their sight is dimmed and grievous punishment awaits them. Both Islam & Christianity believe in Divine punishment. But the difference is that Christianity leaves that punishment to God's judgment & timing - Muslims take up weapons and want to start handing it out today for simply disagreeing with Islam.

No sir, it is you who are Barbaric. By the way - it sounds from your post like you live in America. I wonder why. If Islamic law is so good, why not move somewhere where hands and feet can be chopped off and you can freely beat your wife if "you fear she has disobeyed you"?
