This incident happened 11/21/02. Here is a snapshot of the article. A link to the entire article as it the bottom:

"Rioting youths torched churches, stabbed pedestrians, looted shops and destroyed vehicles in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna Thursday amid rising Muslim fury over the country's staging of the Miss World pageant. The Red Cross said that more than 50 people had died in the violence."
