TEACHINGS OF ISLAM

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

AMONG the many great teachings of Islam are to accept others regardless of their color, religion or origin and history is the best proof here. Abu Baker, the First caliph, ordered his men not to kill old men, women, chlidren, non-fighters, non-armed men, not to exterminate a tree, not to blow down a stone built by a human.
Omar bin Al-Khattab, when entering Jerusalem, ordered muslims never to pray in the church in order not to be said that Omar prayed in such a place and thus has to be changed into a mosque. this also indicates that a muslim can pray in non-muslim praying places since Omar refused to pray not because it is not allowed but as I said before in order not to be followed as an example in the future. Furthermore, he guraneed the freedom of worship to all Christians in Jerusalem.
NO one denies that what is going on now is horrible from the super power, USA, and from some groups killing and kidnapping innocents here and there. To solve this problem, one has to concider international situation appropriately. Most muslim countries are suffering from poverty, more than 85% are below international standards of poverty line. Almost all muslim countries suffer from tyrant heads of state. muslims live in the shade of dictators. all muslims are consumers of western products. all muslims suffer from humiliation of their faith and beliefs by developed people. no industry. no innovation. no technology. no real participation in global civilisation, in sports, in cultral events, in political arena. limited resources. all muslim countries belong to the so called developing countries. AND above all, most muslims feel tyrannized by USA especially when it comes to the Palestinian Question.
