Islam, Obviously Misunderstood

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam
in response to reader comment: Islam and the Western World cannot co-exist

Submitted by Adela (Canada), Jan 11, 2006 at 20:35

To begin, the commandment that was written about does not exist, and was based on an article that someone wrote. Number two you are not qualified in the area of religion, and are making dangerous statements about Islam that probably where effected by the recent events with Islam and the western world.

To state that Muslims are commanded by there holy book to kill is absolutely incorrect and a statement made out of ignorance. Islam means to submit totally to God, further more it is derived from the word salaam, which means peace. Therefore the purpose of Islam, like other religions, is peace. As for the prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) he was overwhelmed by the command to read and write because he was illiterate at the time, but through the grace of God he was able to do so.

In addition he not only totally believed he would be going to heaven as a good man, he was constantly contemplating the possibility of a creator, or higher power before he was enlightened by the angle Gabriel.

Lastly to claim that there is any solid historical evidence that the bible is correct is bogus as goes for any other religion. The Jews for example do not agree with the Christians or Catholics about the story of Jesus entirely, so they have their own point of view, like Islam. Religion, is a matter of faith, and stands on minuscule rocky and controversial historical evidence, and an extremely small percentage of empirical evidence.

Therefore to try and claim that any religion is correct or more accurate by using "evidence" is a very weak argument, especially when one is ignorant or only knows a very small amount about a religion. Muslims, like any other believers, are expected to speak about their religion and encourage others to learn about it because they believe there religion is right, but they are in no way asked to convert others by force or kill them because they refuse to believe. Those who claim killing in the name of Allah are sinners themselves, and are contradicting the very name of Islam, Peace.

With hope of a better understaning
Adela
