Islam is fundamentally linked to this principle - something worth noting. In fact, it seeks to establish commonality with previous 'revelations' and then goes on to assert that the koran is the final and absolute reavalation of allah. Previous revelations are deemed to be subjugated.
This principle is essential to the Islamic faith - which is exactly why earlier, more peaceful koranic text is 'overruled' by later more violent passages.
