Wishful Thinking

There are three cliches that are appropriate rebuttals to Pipes's good intentions. "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink", You cannot make a sow's ear into a silk purse" and finally, "The way to hell is paved with good intentions."

Germany needed to be effectively defeated before Nazism could be erased. Radical Islam is no better than was Hitlerism. Unfortunately Islam is considerably more dangerous, now. It has commercial partnerships and interests with powerful western entities and people who oppose and will continue to oppose change, peaceful or otherwise, for their friends.

The Arab dictators, like the Egyptian Pharoahs are in close relationships with the mullahs. The mullahs have total mind control over most of the Islamic world. The mullahs and the Arab Sheiks and Kings have no intention of giving up their control

Lastly, Pipes makes a weak case when citing selective Koran passages that express love and telerance for other religions. The selections are a minor lot in comparison to the encouragement to violence against the Infidels. Claiming that Islam treated the Jews better than the Christians of a like period is correct, but hardly a recommendation. Jews like others were always as second class people in the Moslem world.
