Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Submitted by adil chaudry (United Kingdom), Dec 11, 2005 at 19:07

The Quranic verses were revealed over a period of years, during which there were various issues, including civil and national wars, and all references to killing and slaying the non-believers were directed at the people of those times, to guide them in the holy wars that were prevailing. Anyone who uses references to slaying non-believers in the modern day is not a believer, but a terrorist. Any non-believers who try to ridicule muslims by quoting these references should understand that they are misinterpreting what is not meant for them. The Hindu scriptures are also full of accounts of bloody battles and perverse acts of war, but nobody quotes these at all, regardless of the fighting that goes on around the world (Tamil Tigers account for 70% of suicide killings, and why also does nobody refer to the kamikazi attackers from Japan during the World war?).

I've read several posts here, and majority are educated viewpoints, but there are a few ignorant comments i must address, like i have done so above. The other point to mention is that about muslims comming to the west to enjoy tv, clothes, fashion and other things.... well.. if the Imperialist invasion that has lasted 1000 years was not so, then you would not see any of us in your lands. The truth is institutions such as The World Bank and The International Monetary Fund (IMF) have crippled the eastern countries, that is why our parents came to the west, so that we could at least attain a humane existence, and not have to live in poverty.

Majority of migrants send money back home.. why ? because our homeland have been looted, and the history books re-written. It is not a coincidence that World bank and IMF have head quarters across the road from each other, nor is it a coincidence that somehow in the last 100 years, every country's currency has been pegged.. erm.. who decided that $1 is the same as a month's wages for some workers in south america? People need to open their eyes and realise why muslims are committing such wrong and extreme vile acts, yes we are wrong, but ask your self why somebody would become a suicide bomber when Islam clearly forbids suicide ? Its only a matter of time before Africans also wake up, and realise how their whole continent has been cheated out of a decent living by the western banking system...

Along with muslims, there is Africa and also South America, we are all in the same boat of opression, but you do not even hear the voice of South Americans or Africans, because the media just picks up on Muslims (because we number 1.3 billion, and it scares westerners' power and control)

Clearly there are many respected people on here with good knowledge, but the brainless sheep who just believe the media stereotypes, and those who do not question why atrocities actually happen, or dont bother to look at the historical roots, they are the cause for concern here, that is what we need to address, why common folk just do like sheep and dont question like men.

Best Regards,

Adil.
