islam is not compatible with democracy

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Some say islam is good, others say it is evil, and finally there are those who claim islam is all that, kind of good and evil at the same time!I believe there is only one conclusion we can consider safe knowledge regarding islam, and that is that it does not endorse democracy! We, the western world, have come a long way, to attain this level of freedom, prosperity, and technical progress! All the countries where islam plays a major role, are dictatorships (except Turkey), with are rather low level of quality of life!I believe, a major reason for the enormous hatred of the arab world against Israel, is in fact due to envy of the historical achievements of the jewish people in general and the formidable success story which is Israel!Democracy and secularism promote evolution in all the fields of science, while islam does the contrary! Therefore the gap between islamic defined countries and the nations which live in democracy will last for ever and thus there will always be an open or latent animosity towards the West!!!We do not have the right to impose a system to any country that does not wish so, but islam does also not have the right to impose itself on our societies like it is, in many part of the western world, the case.We live in a time of islamic imperialism and it must be dealt with that threat more honestly!!!!!!
