Reader comment on item: Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam
in response to reader comment: who ... cares

It would be great to think that we could elect a president without looking at his or her religious background, the crowd they hang with, how they deal with their finances, family issues ect....

but we all know that we have to look at these issues even if you are an open minded individual. We do this all through out life.

I have and will continue to keep an open mind whoever runs for office. But if I have a choice to elect someone who has a background of being on the side of preaching hatred for Americans or caters to people who are of like mind I and you would be a fool to entertain such an idea.

Politicians are in it for one thing, themselves. We would all love to live in peace and harmony with no war. But that is not realistic. So what are Americans to do? Welcome our different views, religious ideas, walk in someone else's shoes, but don't forget the long hard fight of getting to where we are today. Hatred for anyone does not belong in this Presidential race. So why would we want to elect someone known to be a part of a church that preaches hate. Makes no sense to me. This only separates us.
