Believe Obama about his religion now, but don't believe Obama about his religion in the past?

Reader comment on item: Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam

Daniel Pipes believes Obama when he says he is not a Muslim now.

Daniel Pipes does not believe Obama when he says he never thought of himself as a Muslim.

There is a logical disconnect between these two sir. Your hypothesis rests on the facts that Obama attended mosque. My rebuttal is that many people attend church for social networking and community purposes *without faith*. Also I forward the hypothesis that Obama was *forced* by his father to pray. My hypothesis fits the facts more than yours, because Obama prayed rarely as you pointed out. It appears he made every possible attempt to avoid praying at a mosque, even as a child. If a man is forced into an action, he surely cannot be held accountable for it, and doubly true for a child.

Regards,
Brian
