OBAMA A MUSLIM? YES OR NO?

Now that Barack Obama has been elected President of the United States and is actively engaged in the transitioning process of entering office it has become more and more apparent that the fear-mongering charges that he is a Muslim were based on nonsense. Although it does trouble me somewhat that he had developed a twenty year relationship with a race-bating lunatic like the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, for which there is plenty of evidence, the evidence linking Obama to any Islamic belief is non-existent.

To the extent that he was exposed to Islamic traditions and teachings as a child, that exposure has undoubtedly given him a wider understanding of other cultures than what most Americans have. The President of the United States is a world figure, not merely our national leader, and the greater his or her comprehension of how other societies view the world, the better will be his ability to both engage and lead other nations. This young man exudes an air of quiet self-confidence and appears ready to aggressively address the many pressing issues of our troubled times. He may have been only a fourth grade student when I was already out of college, but his accomplishments in life have been extraordinary and I predict that he will usher in a whole new era of American pride and prosperity as president. Let's work with him and put this country back on the right track. Yes, we can.
