Qualification for President

Reader comment on item: Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam

Submitted by Vickie Barth (United States), Jan 9, 2008 at 15:52

It would be a FIRST for USA to elect a person who spent much of his childhood raised in foreign lands.

It has not been mentioned where he was born but it appears he barely meets the qualification of being an American while giving US a sermon about what it is to be American. I think he is trying to identify what being an American is from an African/minority perspective. This is hardly the ingredience for leading the USA.

Idealism/Utopianism always appeals to masses and to me. The reality is very different. The differences have never met while humans continue the pursuit.

Abstract nouns sound beautiful to most. These words do not resolve problems. The USA was based upon the foundationns of the PEOPLE and will only ever be as good as its collective. The people of today show no concern for keeping 'the pact' of being a good people (honoring & keeping the laws) and instead have become people seeking dependence rather than indenpendence. Much of this path was government induced.
