Flawed reasoning

Because it was said that he "wasn't a regularly practicing muslim" doesn't allow you to deduce that he "was an irregularly practicing muslim" because you never prove that he was ever practicing islam. That is a logical fallacy.

Again, just because he followed his father to mosque, you have no proof that he ever went inside and prayed. And even if he did that doesn't mean that he was ever a practicing muslim. Have you ever gone inside a friends place of worship? Closed your eyes during the benediction or prayer at a wedding that wasn't your religion? Does that make you a "practicing member" of that religion? ...
