Tenous logic, dubious relevance

Reader comment on item: Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam

Submitted by Zelator (Australia), Sep 22, 2008 at 00:27

My parents were non-practising religion X, and as a baby I was formally initiated into that religion. I attended state schools, which in country Y meant that they also taught, rather feebly, religion X. I have, over the years, attended many of religion X's ritual events, latterly as my childrens' (private) schools have also espoused religion X, though this does not seem to have affected them much, one is a Wiccan, and the other two are unemphatic atheists I do not, and never have, subscribed to religion X, though I respect much of its work, and try to forgive the rest. I have always been interested in religion, and as the decades pass find myself increasingly in tune with a faith that is some half a millenium older than religion X. X = Christianity Z = United Kingdom US voters should be more concerned with the candidates' economic and foriegn policies. Were I a US voter I would also be keen to ensure I was voting for someone who would exclude religion from both politics and the administration. The harm that religion has done to American science will come to haunt us all.
