If Blacks or Women have a hard time running for the presidency, what about atheists or even the mildest agnostics? If we demand religious affiliation from the people who run for high public office, we should expect religious cranks to pop up every now and then. A rabid preacherman like this Rev. Wright, a Mormon candidate (Romney), a self-styled Born-Again-Christian (Carter), a very un-Quakerlike Quaker (Nixon) and people who are obviously disingenuous (the Clintons!). Oh, and I was raised a Catholic so I didn't mention Kennedy).
