Yes, but what has Israel done for us lately?

You'd like to lump Israel in the list of America's greatest allies. The relationship is taken for granted by Israel and bottom line, Israel puts Israel first always - even when Israeli policy brings problems for their greatest ally. Israel should be down with France, Italy, or maybe Greece in terms of a valuable partner. The US makes considerable sacrifices to support the Jewish state, yet Israel sends spies to Washington and sells advanced military technology to the Chinese and Indians as a thank you (you don't believe me, look it up). You cite Saudia Arabia and Egypt. Frankly, two wrongs don't make a right and I'd be just as happy if we didn't provide aid to those nations either. Fact is, the Middle East will always be in conflict - no amount of US aid is going to change that, or Middle Eastern perceptions of America so we might as well keep our money, and military, at home.
