Our dear Jon the atheist (sic) but who is really a Muslim as there is no reason for an atheist to come here and lecture us about the religion of the Arabs wrote

>5. Regarding your knowledge of Islam: I am sure that you have read primary sources in Arabic. Good for you. I was responding to William Barthway's comment, which stated explicitly that he feels no reason to learn about Islam because of what he sees on the news.

You wrote: If all you know about Islam is what you read about violent attacks in the newspaper this is a sad state of affairs

And my answer was that I study islam and the history of early islam and I know my Arabic and I still think that Islam is a bad human idea and it is a violent religion. But you know what? I will leave the above little gem to the readers to judge you. Oh you forgot yout little qash wa tibn thing

>6. What use is their in using the word "Paki"? As a white American, I am mostly only confused to be called this. This kind of ethnic slur has no place in a discussion, though, and only weakens your point.

Really? And I'm mother Teresa from Berkina Fasso. And do you think that I care about having a civil discussion with some one like you that have no credibility so far?

So the word Pakistani is an ethnic slur? How about the Arabs calling your likes maskeen min el-bakistan? Is this also an ethnic slur?

But wait: I call the British: Brits. Is this also an ethnic slur? And why is that self hate of you Pakis? And you know what? The word Pakistani is for sure not an ethnic slur (i even doubt that most Americans would have no idea what the word Pakistani really means) here in the US as far as I know and how come you did not know that?

>7. As an Atheist, there is no need for me to "abandon Islam".

Did I ask you if you are an atheist? And if you are then why are you here defending the religion of the Arabs?

>I would urge you, however, to be a bit more civilized in debate and to rethink how a more civilized dialogue between religious groups might contribute to understanding and tolerance. The sensationalistic stuff you write is unlikely to convince many, but has convinced me not to take your (obviously informed) analysis of Islam all that seriously. A real intellectual shouldn't have to resort to calling their debating partner a "desperate tablighee".

So you tell us who is really a tablighee Mr Jon the atheist!

I urge you to abandon islam and be whole again
