Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?

Submitted by Paul Legendre (United States), Jun 19, 2002 at 22:28

Once again, Dr. Pipes has written an excellent article which, inter alia, exposes the dichotomy, not to mention hypocrisy, of Bush's semi-war on terrorism. However, I am afraid that he is crying in the wilderness as far as this administration is concerned. Beyond our shores, Bush is conducting a real war; domestically, he's essentially running for reelection in '04 by seeking to ingratiate himself w/ any and all immigrant groups. Witness the Mueller speech to the AMC, airline screening procedures which result in Al Gore receiving as much if not more attention than 30 y.o. Muslim males, virtually open borders w/ Mexico, promises of green cards to resident illegal aliens who pony up $1000, and...Oh, forget about it. The heart of the matter is that we're going to have to take another very big hit from the islamofascists before Bush gets really serious about our national security and sovereignty. When that happens, we'll get out front and scream for it. He'll follow us.
