Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?

Submitted by Terrall Putnam (United States), Jun 18, 2002 at 06:37

I am apalled by the lack of common sense expressed by some of our leaders. It would be prudent for the President's cabinet to daily read your articles. It seems that there is some information barrier and that people in Washington making these decisions are walking around with blinders on.
I noticed on the news this morning that there was yet another Suicide Bombing in Israel. Sixteen more Israelis died and over Forty were wounded. Wake up America, we are next! The ACLU must step aside when it comes to protecting Americans and let the profiling begin at Airports.

I have close friends who are second generation Lebanese, but they are devout Christians, and do not support any of this terrorist garbage. They would understand if they were searched due to their name or ethnic background. Searching little old ladies, and letting bushy-haired arabic men through the line is insanity. It is akin to the comedy spoof "Airport" which was supposed to be a satire, yet here we are 25 years later, doing the very same inane searches for fingernail clippers, and hatpins, while letting grungy shoe bombers right on the plane.
America, It is time to wake up and smell the coffee!
