Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?
in response to reader comment: Why Christians hate Muslims.....

As a former soldier I have had the opportunity to travel around a large part of the globe at the Australian tax payer's expense from the mid 1980's until recently.

I am not religious but don't condemn anyone who is. Good on them. personally I see all organised religion as a way of controlling people. Sort of an opiate for the masses. I just have a few questions that I would like some serious answers to and have been unable to find them.

1. Why are most Islamic countries so backwards? There is generally bugger all industry or infrasructure and the most common denominators amongst the populace are no running water, no electricity and dirt floors.

2. Why do they seem to have no collective sense of humour? Christian countries are full of jokes/jibes about Jesus and whatever but you don't see the riots there.

3. How stupid do they think the rest of the world is? How can you have all the associated mob violence and terrorism yet still try to proclaim yourselves as a "peaceful religion"?

4. If Islam is not a terrorist religion then why is it the religion of choice for 99% of the worlds terrorists?

For the protection of the world's freedom of speech, civil liberties and human rights Islam needs to be controlled at least if not outlawed and irradicated. Maybe we should allow them to have their "Sharia Super State" on a desolate piece of real estate of our choosing where we can very tightly control the borders and movements.
