Tolerance is a requisite of peace

Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?

Even if Islam did mean "peace", which it doesn't, clearly muslim extremists are not adhering to the namesake of their religion when they slaughter innocent civilians-DELIBERATELY. You might call it "peace by name but not by nature". I don't hate muslims, i have many friends who are muslim and indeed of numerous beliefs, but i do detest EXTREMISTS, in ANY form because extremism breeds intolerance. Tolerance is a requisite of peace.

Any religion that condones the killing of innocent people in the name of a god is fundamentally misguided or has been misinterpreted.
