in response to reader comment: reply to "some of my fellow muslims"

So is your Christian computer full of porn?

Anyone who has read my posts knows that I am no fan of Saudi style Islam, but you sir seem to lack discernment when you tak about groups of people. "they're all the same" type of infantile characterisations.

Yes, their type of Islam is generally rather repressed, but I know at least twenty Saudi men personally, all of excellent character, and to say that their faith does not inform their inmost being is insulting. Yes, the gulf states have spawned some real perverts, but as God is my witness, no one i know behaves in a better way than the men I know from Saudi Arabia. sure I have never seen their wives, I don't know their names, but the fruit never lies far from the tree. Their children have the best manners and behaviour I have ever seen, these men are always cheerful in the face of adversity, never judge people for their failings, always find a good thing to say about anyone, they never do anything without calling their wives and seeking PERMISSION to do it, praise of God and gratitude to Gad is always on their lips, this is not something you can fabricate. the list goes on. Whatever the faults of their culture (and they are many) their society has produced some outstanding people that I am proud to call my friends, people who have an essentially beautiful view of human beings and how we all should love our lord and be grateful to him.
