Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?
in response to reader comment: Why Christians hate Muslims.....

Proud Muslim,

Your assertions of the moral turpitude of Christians are completely baseless. First off, not everyone who lives in the West is a Christian. There are all types of beliefs represented here, including Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, pagans, Mormons, atheists, just to name a few. Some are religious and others are not; it is a personal choice.

As a Christian, I can assure you that there is nothing in the Bible which condones immoral behavior. Nothing which says it is ok to rape, murder, or sexually harrass anyone. On the contrary, we have laws against those things and those who are guilty of perpetrating those crimes are punished. In contrast, women who are raped in Islamic countries are sometimes blamed for the rape and murdered by a family member to preserve the family honor.

Christians believe that God grants us FREE WILL to CHOOSE between good and evil. Jesus says to judge not lest you be judged. In other words, God will be the judge of the disposition of a person's soul--not you or me.

Sure, some Christians may wear bikinis and drink alcohol, but we do not saw the heads off of bound, helpless victims while shouting praises to God, nor do we glorify those who strap bombs onto themselves and intentionally target innocent civilians--again in the name of Islam, or execute those who convert from Christianity to Islam.

Arabs were very active in the slave trade. Not only that, but Saudi Arabia did not make slavery illegal until 1962. Furthermore, arabs are raping and enslaving black Sudanese TODAY. Christians in Muslims lands are being persecuted TODAY. So please spare us the moral superiority.
