Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?

Submitted by Mr Ghani (United Kingdom), Apr 23, 2004 at 19:11

Let me get something straight for all those who chose to lap up all that is said and protrayed by the media.

Firstly most muslim , well all the ones i know are fed up with with being associated with terrorism and bin laden

Bin laden was funded and brought to his current position by the US government. He was trained by the US to fight agianst the Soviets in Afganistan.

Saddam Hussein Bath party was funded by The US and rose to power in order that the opposing Shia leader didnt stand a chance. In other words they didnt want a Shia Iraq being too friendly with a Shia Iran. The result - a muslim superpower now that would upset Israel.

Islam means peace. Anyone who kills, other than in war or in defence goes to hell. Those who commit suicide also go to hell - as Muslims believe.

Historically Muslims have had a good record in ruling a country which they are in the minority. Look at India. It used to be ruled by a Muslim minority. So no in fact we dont want to conquer the world and make it Muslim. Not so long ago another organisation tried to do that.
