As a Christian

Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?
in response to reader comment: WRONG

As a Christian, I confess I am a sinner. I have let anger mold my view of Muslims. I know that Muslims have defiled our churches, driven our priests and ministers and their families from there homes, humiliated our brothers and sisters. They have ridiculed our faith, proclaimed that 'God has no son' from their mosques, and they claim to speak for God, and persecute our brothers and sisters wherever Muslims have the power to do so. They wish our Jewish brothers and sisters wiped from the earth.

Yet I am called by my God to love them, to do good to them. Even though they hate us and seek our destruction, even though they have persecuted the Coptics of Egypt, defiled the birthplace of our saviour,Jesus Christ, and driven His people from Bethehem stll, He calls us to love them. They are but children, full of rage and anger and hate, They don't know what they do. Love the Muslims, care for them, cure them when they are ill, bind their wounds when they are injured. Hate begets hate, blessed be the peace maker, for he shall find peace, and he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword. God is Love.
