A PROUD MUSLIM, you have said that you are a historian of the history of both Islam and the world. After reading your posting, a response must be made. The historic truth is that the Christian faith has done much more good then given credit for. Despite the wrongs commited by those who profess faith in Christ and there have been, the Gospels, New Testement Letters, Revelation, as well as the Christian church, NEVER encouraged or promoted sinful and wrong actions or activities. As a matter of fact; these actions are condemmed as sinful and wrong by Christians. When there is a strip joint, often Christian church communities and its members work hard to rid their communities of these pornographic businesses that not only are demeaning to women and men, but often are a blight to a community. Also there are Christian organizations that make it their ministry to fight pornographic websites on the internet. Even the USA, founded on Jewish/Christian principles, is more then ever before on the federal and state levels, is working hard to crack down on websites that promote child sex abuse, including arresting those involved in these sexual abuse rings.

On a historic level, the Christian faith has done much more good in its over 2,000 year history then given credit for. Both the institutions of the university and the hospital have both been founded by monoistic communities of the Catholic Church. These same monestaries preserved the manuscripts of the ancient Greeks and Romans. The most famous communites were founded by the Irish. A book ten years ago highlighted how the Irish saved Western Civilization and both its cultural and historic heritage. The Christian faith has been good to women. Starting with the special honor given to Mary, mother of Jesus, women in the Christian faith have been in the front lines to promote education, ending slavary, spread the Gospel, and promote peace and justice. Many have founded monostic communites. The Christian community in the United States in the historic recorded worked to end the horrors of slavery. Latter on, the African American Christian churches have been credited with the sucess of the civil rights movement. In what is now Mexico, an apparition of Mary to a Christian convert by the name of Juan Diego is credited in 1531 to having led in less then twenty years with the conversion to the Christian faith of up to 9 million Aztec native Americans. Thus ending the horrible practice of human sacrifices.

The Christian church, with the Roman Catholic Church in a special way, to this very day, have worked to evangelize people and to help bring them to Jesus Christ. The Christian Lent is the time of the year when active and inactive Christians are called to repentance and conversion back to God in renewed faith. Lent is also the time of the year in the Catholic Church, when those who are not Catholic but are studying to become Catholic are in the final steps to get ready to come into the Church either by being baptized or by being recieved into full communion in the Church at the special vigil mass for Easter Sunday. The spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest achievement of the Christian faith. The Christian faith is having a boom right now in the global south. Africa, Asia, and Latin America is seeing major growth of new Christians. The churches in the global south will in the years to come be the ones to send missionaries to the West to evangelize the West and bring it home to its Christian heritage.

There are questions that must be answered. Why is it that the Quran has said ( 4:34 ) it is acceptable for husbands to beat their wives? Also if Islam is peaceful, why is it that this same Quran also gave its blessings to war against non-Muslims with the hope of paradise of non-Muslims ( 9:111 ) ? Your answers would be most helpful.
