MODERATE ISLAM IS TARGETTED

Reader comment on item: Bolstering Moderate Muslims

I THINK IT IS ARTIFICIAL TO IMAGINE DISTINCT MODERATE AND MILITANT PRACTITIONERS of islam, FOR THERE IS A DRIVE TO EXPAND iSLAM AND INFILTRATE OTHER SOCIETIES.SO THE SITUATION IS NOT STATIC.

A quiescent EARLY IMMIGRANT minority emphasises a range of peaceable Koranic clauses, and claims to demonstrate that "Islam is a religion of Peace".

Any tendency to militancy of early immigrants is constrained by the demands of settling in with their families and by:

Attractiveness of host culture

No wish to escape host culture or overturn it

Assimilationist trend

Applicaton of host law, absence of numbers and absence of active 'recruitment'.

Pro tempore, this might be called stable, moderate Islam, able to fit in to the established multicultural society.

=======================================================================

But this snapshot of an idyllic, seemingly moderate minority community is exposed to dynamic globalism, to pressures for change, capable of transforming the peaceable community to: Militant Islam, activated by: `

Progressive increase in numbers towards a critical Islamist threshhold

Immigration of confreres, Islamist and non-Jihadist

Absence of a binding, public affirmation of loyalty, at Naturalisation ceremonies

Availability of ballot box increasing influence on parliamentarians

Confused and tentative reaction by intimidated host authorities

Growing sense of triumphalism as influence grows, which encourages recruiting

Seditious incitement –by leadership and activists

So-called ‘spiritual leaders' actually function as political agitators

Leadership draws on the range of aggressive jihadist Koranic clauses.

That moderate community is now being induced to activist Islam.
