in response to reader comment: Our dear maria and Arabic

Submitted by Maria Khan (United Kingdom), Apr 27, 2008 at 11:04

"So our dear maria"
First of all could you stop calling me our dear maria because I don't like it.

"Then you are a wannabe arab"
Secondly, I am not a wannabe Arab... don't be so daft. where did you get that from :S do you just make things up? I'm proud of my background don't insult me.

"it says in Arabic a language that you cannot read because you ain't no Arab"
To speak Arabic... YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AN ARAB. To be an Arab...YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEAK ARABIC.. you've just got to be born in an Arab country and you're an Arab. So if a baby born in an Arab country but was raised in a non-arabic country (i.e. England) and spoke english but couldnt speak arabic... would that make him/her a non Arab? NOPE!

"so are you able to read and understand arabic? Let me guess: no."
Yes I can read Arabic but no I can't understand all of it. I'm still learning.

"Are you aware that the Qur'an says that islam is the religion of the Hijazi Arabs? and for this see Q14:4"
You can understand Arabic and also translate it into English really well. This is a useful skill to have. But you ain't no Muslim so I don't follow to how you EXPLAIN the Quran because you're explanations are wrong. After reading several translations from Arab scholars (because Arabic is a language which I cannot fully understand and they can) I would EXPLAIN (not translate) Q14:4 like this; Allah sent every messenger to a nation. The messenger spoke the language of the people so that the people could understand the message from Allah. An example would be; Mohammed pbuh (spoke arabic), Jesus (spoke Aramaic?) please correct me if I'm wrong about Jesus. Now IF Mohammed pbuh spoke english how would the arabic people of that time be able to understand the message of Allah? Hope you Muslims especially understand my point here :-)

However dhimmi no more, you will still insist that it Islam is religion of Hijazi Arabs and how can other nations follow Islam? ..... check this.... Pizza is not from Africa but how comes the people of Africa still eat it? iPOD is not from england so how can people from england still use it? Shakespeare is not american so how comes americans still study his work? My message is simply that Islam spread over the world to other nations. Muslim Arabs may have settled in Egypt spreading Islam in Africa. ( as an example). Even if you insist Islam is only for Hijazi arabs, bring me a statement from the Quran (if you can) which says "No other nation i.e. English cannot follow Islam". I know you can't.

"Urdu? your Arabian Allah does not know any Urdu."

I assume you looked at my surname KHAN and thought.. hmmm.. speaks urdu. I sure don't speak Urdu, you definitely got that wrong..shame on you :P.
Well I, we Muslims, believe Allah is all-knowing therefore knows everything i.e. all the languages that a man can speak. You don't believe what we believe so you can argue your point a million times over and (us Muslims) we'll argue our point a million times back.

And finally....."Why do you live in England our dear maria?"
That's really none of your business.

If you really want to debate with someone, then debate with an Islamic scholar who has more knowledge than most people on this forum. Unless there is already an Islamic scholar(s) in this forum.
