Isn't it too wishful?

For some reason I thought that you've dropped the "moderate Muslims are the solution" line.

You're right, they do exist. However, their rise to real influence, in my opinion, is virtually impossible due to many reasons, which I am sure you're aware of.

Also, promoting the moderate Muslims will put a pretty make up on the ugly grimace made of today's Islam by the extremists, who will happily refer to the very existence of this (however helpless) minority as a demonstration of Islamic tolerance. Funding of them will never be able to compete with Saudi injections in Wahhabism.

Having empty hopes may, and most definitely will deter the effort of fighting the enemy, blur the goal and create a new cast of liberal fighters, relying on imaginary force within the enemy rather than on our own strength.

Even compare to weak German anti-fascist movement during WWII, these moderate Muslims are miniscule. And the culture surrounding them makes their input ignorable.
