in response to reader comment: regarding BBC World

First, thank you for taking the time to respond. Next, I believe the evidence of the BBC's virulent anti-American and anti-Israel stances are very well known and abundantly documented. What I find amusing is to hear someone make a claim about the BBC's "objectivity." Perhaps it bears a resemblance to someone living next door to a pig-sty, and, before long, the person becomes so accustomed to the stench that he no longer perceives the foul odors emanating from his neighbors' fields.

Allow me to reiterate. The bias which became evident on BBC World was expressed (not during a "discussion" featured in-between a news broadcast but) during the "news" broadcast. What occurred was this -- the BBC reported on an American effort to encourage the United Nations to impose tougher sanctions against Iran (with respect to Iran's developing nuclear weapons).

The BBC "news" broadcaster then engaged in a "debate" with said American, followed by statements made by a devotee of the President of Iran who asserted that the West was just being "paranoid". The claims of the West being "paranoid" were left unchallenged, and was clearly the position of the BBC -- that is, the BBC adopts the Muslim position that a nuclear Iran is of no threat whatsoever, and that those who oppose Iran's obtaining a bomb are just being "paranoid." That was just one segment of the BBC's "news" broadcast. This was followed by a glowing report about Marwan Barghouti who is currently serving multiple life-sentences in an Israeli prison for murdering Israelis. The BBC's response? It is to champion the release of Barghouti and to act as if Barghouti is a "political prisoner" not a murderous terrorist. This is standard BBC fare, and to claim that the BBC is "objective" is to stretch the meaning of that term beyond all recognition.

What the BBC does is act on behalf of the Arab/Muslim world, and this includes adopting a visceral hatred of all things American, all things Jewish. The only way to understand the BBC's position is to understand that in the "World" of the BBC the basic, most fundamental assumption is that being a Jew or supporting the state of Israel is a "crime against humanity." Watching the "BBC World" even for a few minutes will reassert the alignment of "criminals" with Jews (and, oftentimes criminalizing Americans as well).

I suppose it is the "hope" of the Dhimmis at the BBC that their fawning, obsequious deference to all things Arab/Muslim will buy them time or grant them immunity from Islam's murderous onslaught. But, as I laugh, I don't think so. Appeasement didn't work with the nazis, and it won't work with the Islamists.
