They don't want to compromise on anything, they want total victory

Reader comment on item: Bolstering Moderate Muslims

It is frustrating for me to read comments by people who state that if only we didn't invade Iraq, or if only we didn't support Israel, the Osama Bin Ladins would leave us alone. That is so false!! Take away Iraq or Israel and the west/US would still be hated. The facists would still want to kill all the non-believers.

They hate us because our women can choose their husbands, they hate us because our clerics don't control our lives, they hate us because our women play sports, drive cars, vote, go to college, work at the same jobs as men, etc. changing what the US does politically changes nothing. they will not stop believing that we non-believers must die or have converted to Islam. I am only speaking of the fascists or terrorists.

Of course, there are Muslims (I believe the majority of which feel this way) who do not want to kill the non-believers, who do believe in living in peace with others, even those who are Christian or Jewish. The problem is that the terrorists have hijacked the Muslim religion. I believe that the terrorist threat to the world will only cease when the Muslims themselves deal with the fascists in their midst. I believe that there have been attempts to do so, however, I also believe that the peaceful Muslims have done a terrible job of letting the rest of the world know what and how they are going about this.

If the local Mosque invites people form the local Diocese to meet and talk- I am there. I believe that a Muslim-American is an AMERICAN, and if there are things that can be done to make our better with respect to Muslim-Americans, I am there. We have to work together, for our own survivor, because the Muslims and non-muslims in this country are viewed by the terroriest as infidels and are in the gunsights of the terrorists and the facists.
