The marketing of New and Improved brand of RAND's old and discredited product

Reader comment on item: Bolstering Moderate Muslims

The latest Rand treatise is like the New Improved Colgate --- a rehash of the old division of Muslims in four arbitarary catagories. The basic Rand strategy is to follow the old divide and rule tactic and a wishful effort to get one section of Muslim community to attack the other or atleast treat each other with reservations.

Though Rand is singularly unqualified to lay down any realistic methodology to influence Muslim rage against Bush policies, its inherent attitude of treating Muslim as enemy is the most obvious element in its studies that can never deliver the Muslims to Western fold. You can fool some people for some time. Not all the people all the time.

The Rand efforts are merely polishing off readily available funding to perpetuate an ongoing charade of intellectual exercise, that are more like spreading disinfomation than a realist admission of the failure of US policies towards Muslims. Any comparision of Muslims with Communists, and rehashing of strategies to 'subdue' the community, suffers from colossal ignorance of the real nature of Muslim agenda, its inherent strengths and its interest in coming to terms with the western concerns on its own terms.
