actually Ianus, fall of Persian empire against these barbarians was more tragic. Atleast Byzantine survived for a couple of centuries and Greek culture is still there. The Persians simply were overwhelmed and became cultural & intellectual slaves in the form of shiism. I fail to understand why the Byzantines and Persians didnt collaborate against the muslims. well what is more weird is that western europe supporting turkey against russia in 19th century. call it 'real politic'.

anyways 3 years back, I went to Constantinople, err sorry. Istanbul. It hurts. It physically hurts, that that place was once the centre of Byzantine empire.
