Even this tendentious article concedes that Turkey cannot entirely stop the flow of opiate drugs across its territory. Every soldier, **gendarme** and police officer in the country would have to be pulled off his or her current duties and reassigned to inspecting the thousands of trucks which transit Turkish territory each week. The source for this opium is Iran and Central Asia. As to opium grown in Turkey, which Ankara **can** do something about, it is directed to legal channels every last gram, as the analysis grudgingly concedes.
