Good that you brought this up. One thing that bugs me is the increasing number of instances of muslims slaughtering animals in their backyards on their Eid 'feast' days ((innocent baby lambs being the animal of choice - but anything will do.) - often in front of their irresponsibly-bred children.

<-- start 'em young .

So what effect does this have on the psyche of young children? What impression does a 5 year old have of the world he/she lives if he/she has been maybe playing with an innocent carefree lamb maybe a half hour before. Then sees it kicking and screamng as daddy muslim slits it' throat and blood pumps out over it's white fur for 30 seconds until it lays lifeless - while later mummy muslim tucks into it with a knife ? A new muslim is born.

Of course muslims will say we eat meat .True, many do, but the animals are killed as humanely as possible. The big difference is the killing is not done in backyards, it's done quickly and we don't take our 5 year olds along to the spectacle for entertainment. And we certainly don't do it in honour of a deity.

What lessons are learned from this? That other living entities (non-humans in this case) are totally expendable (and later on -that non-muslim humans are no better??) . That it's OK to laugh and play with a (non-human) friend - but the life of that friend has no intrinsic value - just enjoy it while it lasts ? That killing entities that absolutely mean you no harm is quite permisible , on the say-so of other muslims , if it is done for allah ?

I guess it just proves that quote from amuslim - 'we loved death more than you love life'.
