Thank you Ianus and a great post and you are 100% correct

>Then why was not legal for Greece to internvene to save 180 000 people expelled and threatened with extermination at the hand of the Turkish hordes ?

I'm sure that you must be aware that Nasser (D 1970) was a very close friend and ally of Makarious and he had no regard for the Turks or their imperialism. And do not forget that Egyptians shared with the Greeks the sufferings from the Turkish occupation of their countries for a long time. He wanted to see a free and Greek Cyprus that has no links with Turkey. He even told Isreal and the US that he is not their enemy but their real enemy is radical islam and that Turkey is not a stable allyand that in due time it will also discover radical islam. But did anyone listen?

>Only because the Americans had fooled the Greeks to remove their division from Cyprus in 1967 and blackmailed and terrorized Greece into passivity and to be sure of the Turkish success sent the 6th US Fleet to secure the safe passage of the Turkish navy from Turkey to the beaches of Northern Cyprus ?

This could very well be true but the strange thing is that to the US policy makers at the time and out of pure ignorance believed that if Naser says A then it should be a B and not an A and I just wonder how much of it was because he told the US not to trust the Truks!

>The Turks did invade not to save anybody,

It is funny but in an upcoming biography about Nasser I recall reading that Nasser told the US that Turkey will invade Cyrus sooner or later and they will find a reason so be ready but again our policy makers could not see beyond the tips of their noses

>but because the American plans foresaw the Turkish capture of a large part of Cyprus while they didn't foresee any Greek defence .

Again: it seems that Nasser warned the US that if Cyprus is to be invaded then they should except resistance from the Greeks

>It was a big political game to feed the hungry Turkish wolf with Greek blood and so keep Turkey satisfied with its role of a US outpost against the USSR .

This is very true

Thank you again and keep up the good work
